Our bodies are born with the amazing ability to heal themselves. When we get injured the brain sends signals to the damaged tissues and tells them how to heal. Our bodies use the nervous system to communicate this information between the brain and the tissue cells. The nervous system consists of the brain, spinal cord, and all the peripheral nerves that go out to every muscle, joint, organ and cell of the body. As long at the communication between the brain and the body is functioning at 100%, the body can repair and heal the damaged tissues.
However, sometimes there are misalignments or stuck bones in the spine that can put pressure on the nervous system. This is called a subluxation. When subluxations occur they can cause problems such as pain, tingling, numbness, headaches, organ dysfunction, and a depressed immune system.
What chiropractors do is remove subluxations by adjusting specific segments of the spine. An adjustment is a specific thrust delivered by hand or with an instrument in order to restore normal alignment and motion to the bones of the spine. The purpose of the adjustment is to take the pressure off the nervous system so that the body can heal itself.
We encourage you to have a first-hand experience in our practice. It’s easy to get started.
